Today was the last full day of the National Oblate Youth Encounter for 2011.
We started off in the usual way with breakfast. As usual the parents and friends of Oblate Youth who came to cater for us were wonderful and provided another fantastic meal. After breakfast we had another animation session. This time it focused on doing small things in life and doing them well in the face of resistance and adversity.
Today's main talk was by Emma Rice and her theme was "Possible Mission Is..." She focused on helping us to find ways to put what we have learnt in the last two days about Mission and the Charism of St Eugene de Mazenod into our daily lives.
This talk was followed by a return to the discussion groups to break open the ideas in the theme and also involved an activity of affirmation where the participants wrote words of encouragement to each other to keep after the camp.
After lunch we were treated to small workshops on Rosies Oblate Youth Mission (and Rosies QLD), Oblate Youth Australia and Partners in Mission where the participants learnt about practical existing missionary activities that were ongoing that they could be a part of.
The afternoon's activity saw the participants drawing images of a mission they hope to take up in 2011 on small 10cm x 10cm canvas.
The evening ended with the final Mass. The Mass was the summit of our week where we came together in liturgy to be with Christ. During the mass the canvases that the participants drew on were attached to a large cross which became our mission cross to remind us of all that we have done.
The National Oblate Youth Encounter was an excellent success and we thank you for following us online and for your prayers.
