Hooray another rainy day at camp! We comforted ourselves with pancakes and toast for breakfast before being lead in Morning Prayer by team ‘Dr No’ and we reflected on adopting a missionary attitude within our own lives.
Today’s talk was presented by Hayley Chapman who focused on ‘Possible Mission is…’ Hayley focused on her experiences in combining her passion for social justice with her faith. She challenged us all to do the same, leaving us with a great quote from Marianne Williamson, “Our biggest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our biggest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”
We also had a talk from Brother Paul, who is from mainland China and is the first Oblate ordained in 48 years, who shared with us how came to be with the Oblate.
Stanley also spoke about the work he had done with his youth group back in Hong Kong. His amazing passion and enthusiasm has been seen by all over the last couple days and has inspired and renewed all participants to do the same in their local communities.
Today’s group activities included painting candles that were then commissioned and will be sent out to the local communities, both in Australia and Hong Kong. We continued the day by performing our group skits based on ‘Mission is Possible’ and our individual movie themes. The skits were amazing! There was no clear winner as they were all highly polished, well directed performances and each skit had a unique flavour to them. Each team should be very proud of their creativity.
Tonight’s Mass was organised by ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Ghost Protocol’. Mass was lead by Bishop Mark and was a beautiful conclusion to the camp. Fini challenged us all to remember that we are the key to making mission possible, and said that the greatest gift he could give to anyone is a mirror. As we ourselves, with God’s grace can achieve anything.
Mass was followed by a late night part-ay, and everyone got out their best dance moves and boogied into the night.
We would sincerely like to thank, Peter and Toni the camp owners for allowing us to use their facilities and for their generous hospitality…and delicious food!
We would also like to say thank you to all the Oblates who took time away from their parishes and commitments to join us over the camp.
And lastly to Fr Christian Fini, whom without his dedication, support, passion and love for youth ministry this camp would not be possible.
