ActIV8 The Power: Junior Camp 2007
| A number of our SOY members went to the 2007 Junior Camp hosted by Eaglevale Youth Group both as participants and leaders. This was an opportunity for our younger members and those that weren't able to go to the National Oblate Youth Encounter in Melbourne earlier this year, to experience the activation of our power in preparation for IOYE and WYD08 and to enjoy the hospitality of our Oblate Community |

" My first impressions of Mulgoa were far from the ones that i had anticipated - it was cold and it was wet. But my spirits weren't dampened by the dismal weather. My very first youth camp was a fun and enlightening experience.
The camp taught us we all have power. On the first day we had a big group discussion about recognising power - both within ourselves and in others. As a big group we concluded that power came in different forms, such as social and financial power. We didn't need to be superheroes to make a difference in the world, all we needed was to believe in the gifts that God had given us. After each and everyone of us had discovered the powers in ourselves, it was then time to discover the ways we had and could use them to help others.
When I arrived home on the Sunday, I came back of a lot of new things and experiences to remember. I got to know a whole bunch of really cool people and learnt quite a lot about my faith."
- Franchesca (a.k.a. Madame Phoenix and my side-kick Lord Squishy)
"Three days, a loaded suitcase and a bunch of excited youths looking forward to one thing: Oblate Youth Camp; guaranteed to enlighten and deepen our understanding of our faith.
Our first frost night was spent getting to know faces, other young people and of course or superhero leaders. The second day was just as jam-packed as I expected it to be. A wake up call (Eaglevale style), aerobic dancing to get rid of any sleepers then off to breakfast with discussion groups next on the agenda. This was the day we learned about different powers and was assigned to become a superhero. Day three was more relaxed and was taken up by kite flying, mass preparation and our final mass together.
All in all the camp was fun and a great experience. Hopefully next time I'll be old enough to go to the International Oblate Youth Encounter in Melbourne! XD"

Sefton Oblate Youth Music Ministry Takes Flight!
And we have lift off! Under the guidance of Michelle and with the help of Jenny and Maureen, the SOY Music Ministry have been playing at our Youth Masses! Its taken a lot of practice and lots of hard work but we've finally got it together contributing our musical talents to our masses. Though still a little yet tight group, we're always open to new members and of course singers! On the organ we've have Michelle, on the acoustic guitars we have Alexis and Anna, our resident bassist Franchesca and providing the beats is Albie with the rest of SOY singing along. We meet an hour or so before our weekly meetings and we invite anyone and everyone to come and join us! We don't bite!
