While in Cilacap, Indonesia, visiting the Oblates and the works that MAMI supports I had the opportunity to attend the National Indonesian Youth gathering.   On behalf of OYA, I presented the gathered community with the NOYE 2010 Candle as a gift of unity and sign of solidarity.

It was great to spend time with them, it also reminded me that young people are the same all over the world…. Absolutely brilliant.  (For OYA members, they even have a “Ferg” in Indonesian.  They even managed to get the standard “youth are not the hope of the future but are leaders in the church today…” speech in Indonesian through an interpreter) 

I had the opportunity to speak with a few that participated in the IOYE in 2008.

The young people of the Indonesian province and the Oblates send their greetings and assure you of their prayers.
